SOUNDTRACKS ARE SO IMPORTANT TO ME... a soundtrack won't necessarily detract from how much i love a game, but it can certainly add to my enjoyment. if a track that plays during an emotional scene can still make me feel emotional when i'm listening to it on its own later, then i consider that a pretty successful soundtrack. i actually have an entire playlist called READY2CRY because i love pain apparently. solid examples of this are ALIVE from umineko no naku koro ni, and this song from the tresspasser dlc of dragon age: inquisition (actually the entirety of that dlc soundtrack). i know dragon age isn't within the theme of lifebottle, but holy shit trespasser wrecked me and i couldn't listen to the soundtrack for like a week without sobbing.
soundtracks don't necessarily have to make me feel EMOTIONS for me to love them though. the entire TWEWY soundtrack is gold, i love the general feel of the odin sphere ost, and bravely default is AMAZING. IT JUST HELPS.

i have way too many favorites but i like sharing them so i'll list a select few of my favorite video game tracks ever here! not even including super vocal ones like im@s songs because then we'd be here all day
odin sphere theme (odin sphere)
dir (umineko no naku koro ni)
dreamenddischarger (umineko no naku koro ni)
the executioner (umineko no naku koro ni)
my dear (umineko no naku koro ni)
life (umineko no naku koro ni)
hope (umineko no naku koro ni)
birth and death (higurashi no naku koro ni)
kaze (rose guns days)
duel of rose (rose guns days)
someday(TWEWY)
actually just have the entire TWEWY soundtrack
serpant eating the ground (bravely default)
ibitsu naru shinen sono na ha mao (bravely default)
the civil war country (bravely default)
baby bird (bravely default
meaning of birth (tales of the abyss)
finish the promise (tales of the abyss)
BONUS
the entirety of the descent and trespasser soundtracks (dragon age: inquisition)
from past to present (skyrim)

I LOVE OSTS if a game has bad osts I'm probably not very likely to conitnue playing it - especially if its a rhythm game, if their songs are bad I would not likely endure it. funnyil enough most of the songs I have on my phone are osts, like pmmm, drakengard, nier, etc etc. I find that I listen to them more than actual vocal songs overall - the reason I have a lot of voiced songs nowadays is beacuse they're sung in my vns. See: utapri, pristo, etc etc... yeah. so soundtracks are v important to meeeee

I like OSTs, but I don't own very many? I have the one for Fate/Zero, but my favorite game OST would definitely be The World Ends with You. I like all of the songs on there, and there's a lot of vocal tracks, too. I also like the soundtrack for Persona 4. I didn't finish that game yet because I'm trash, pretty sure I'm in the last dungeon, but it's catchy and it works for the game. TL;DR, I don't have a lot of OSTs, but I enjoy them!

Yes hello is this another excuse for me to talk about our lord and savior Revo--

So, Bravely Default was already brought up but. For the record I have never actually played Bravely Default. But I'm in love with its OST. It's really good. Really really good. And the entire thing was composed by Revo of Sound Horizon (under the label of Linked Horizon which is basically just where he shoves all his collab stuff).

BD songs were already linked but check out this medley stage performance it's just. *clenches fists* So good.

The Drakengard 3 soundtrack is ALSO PHENOMENAL by the way. This Silence Is Mine is my favorite song from the entire thing. It's sssooooo full of raw emotion I love it so much.

ALSO, FATAL FRAME doesn't really have like. SUPER GOOD osts or anything but ever since the second game they've had Amano Tsuki(ko she cut the ko off her name at some point though) do image songs for all of their games. Zero no Chouritsu is one of the image songs for Fatal Frame IV, for example. (My favorite is actually Chou but I can't seem to find the original song on youtube.....) Anyways, for this reason Amano has been one of my favorite artists ever since I was a kid.

edit: belatedly I just realized that everything I linked has lyrics. so I guess that's a thing. it's important to me that OSTs have songs with lyrics.

I love video game soundtracks (fun fact: they're also my go-to soundtrack)! Music is the kind of thing that makes or breaks how convincing the atmosphere of a game is. Of course, to be good it has to fit the theme of the game: whether rock or pop or classical, if it feels like the music is a natural extension of what I'm seeing on screen then I'm satisfied. Probably my favourite soundtrack is from The World Ends With You, which is a lot of rap and techno. Still, all of it sounds like it could come straight out of the MC's MP3 player!

I love good OSTS... I'm not that picky about them though, as long as it doesn't distract from the game itself but supplements it like it's supposed to, that's good enough for me. I enjoy most of the really popular composers like basically everyone who's done Square Enix games lmao. Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, that sort of thing. A lot of my faves aren't applicable to this TCG topic lmao but I'm going to share them anyway because I always bring them up for OST discussion questions haha.

In general, the Assassin's Creed soundtracks are really good but I still think AC2's is my favorite. The Ezio's Family track always gets me... If you need a good OST to put on while you're working I definitely recommend the Journey OST or Bastion OST. Journey's is a little more chill but they're both good. Aaand Elizabeth's theme from Bioshock Infinite is lovely.
